Day 6: Artwork composition #4

The next batch of designs is fresh off the press…

This design was inspired by one of my favorite designer brands, “Off-White.” When I started college I fell in love with the simple elements that compose their design aesthetic with the revolutionary Helvetica font. Just super simple and bold.

To make this design, i started with a 3000x3000 artboard. The concept was to make it simple as I originally thought about making it completely out of triangular pieces that would compose a more abstract piece of artwork until I decided to keep colors to a minimum, only where needed to paint the right picture. It became a field of black, white, and blue. I created a white triangular piece to represent sand Next, a thin blue line perfectly straight across the artboard above the white piece, leaving me a black triangular body. To add some more elements, I added some text that labeled each body: “SAND” “WATER” and “SKY.” Of course I added the title of the song in the very center of the body labeled “SKY” along with two ‘L’ shaped segments in white at opposite corners, creating a box-like effect around the word “PARADISE.” Now that I’ve squared away the screen recording problem, here’s a timelapse of the progress in the design:

Concept #2, Design 1

The final product took me about an hour with the time spent brainstorming and laying out the design in a few different ways. The only element not covered in the timelapse is the inscription in the bottom left corner. That idea came from the inscription printed on the inner sides of the sneakers that are part of the expanding Off-White x NIKE collection.
